Life on the Fifth Continent – Memories of Romney Marsh

Memories of Romney Marsh

We have the memories – do you have the photos?

Over the last few years a team of volunteers has been collecting wonderful oral histories of life on the Marsh within living memory. There are memories of the various lifeboats, changes in fishing and farming, of the impact of the power station, of towns and villages from Dungeness to Hythe, of holiday camps and caravan parks, of birding and the environment, of cess tanks and drainage, of beaches and storms and tourists who have loved the place so much that they have come here to live. We’re producing a free publication so that we can share these memories with you, but we’re looking for more photos to go into the book.

Can you help us out?  If you have photos that you think we can use, please do get in touch. You can email Rib Davis at rib.davis@kentwildlife.org.ukor give him a ring on 07947 523756 . Many thanks!
