A new audio guide has been produced with many interesting facts about the 14 standing church and each tour is available on the Izi travel app. There is also a QR code available in each church.
14 mosaic artworks have been created by the local community and are stunning pieces of art which incorporate the wildlife found in Romney marsh and heritage of each church.

CHURCHES AUDIO GUIDE LAUNCHED!
Our self-guided tour app for the medieval churches has been tested and tweaked and is now available to users worldwide via the Izi Travel app. We’ve had a great response already, with hundreds of people accessing content. We launched our app at The Fifth Continent Festival at Romney Marsh Visitor Centre.
CHURCHES AUDIO GUIDE – INCREDIBLE PHOTOS
Some incredible photos have been added to our Audio Guide App taken by professional church photographer Andy Marshall. Andy documented his journey around the marsh churches on his popular social media channels and blog, with a great response from people all over the world.
3D TOURS OF FIVE CHURCHES
Kent company MMS360 and our Cultural Heritage Officer Didier Rochard have been working hard to develop five 3D virtual tours for the medieval churches at New Romney, Lydd, Brookland, Ivychurch and Snave. This technology allows people anywhere in the world to have a walk through of the marsh churches. The tours give exciting insights such as views of church towers and inside bell chambers – a very exciting piece of work!
CHURCHES AUDIO GUIDE – SOFT LAUNCH
We have launched our Medieval Churches Audio Guide in time for the Friends of Kent Churches Ride & Stride open day on 11th September. Visitors to the churches will be able to follow a QR code to learn all about the churches in more detail.
MARSH MOSAICS – CHURCHES OPEN DAY
Our mosaics have now moved to their respective churches for exhibition in time for the Friends of Kent Churches Ride & Stride Open Day on 11th September. We know that many local people and visitors will enjoy following our new arts trail around Romney Marsh – see our Resources page for more details.
MARSH MOSAICS – WORKSHOPS COMPLETE!
We’ve now completed all 32 workshops for The Marsh Mosaics project! Nearly 400 different people have been involved – 391 to be precise! Participants aged 5 to 90 have enjoyed learning about the heritage of the marsh and its medieval churches. Yolanda and the team are now grouting and finishing, ready for the exhibitions next month!
MARSH MOSAICS – MORE WORKSHOPS
We’ve now run 11 more workshops for our Marsh Mosaics project and they’re coming along nicely. So far Burmarsh, Brenzett, St Mary ITM, Brookland, Dymchurch, Lydd, Ivychurch and Newchurch are all nearing completion. Dymchurch Primary and Lydd Scouts loved their recent sessions. It was wonderful to be in St George’s Church and St Peter & St Paul’s Newchurch this week and to meet so many people.
MARSH MOSAICS – WORKSHOP UPDATE
We’ve now run 13 workshops for our Marsh Mosaics project. Community participants have been working on the mosaics for Burmarsh, Brenzett, St Mary ITM and Brookland. Wonderful to have Brookland Primary School involved too!
MARSH MOSAICS – WORKSHOPS COMMENCE!
Workshops have commenced for The Marsh Mosaics! We’re working in small groups at outdoor locations to keep things Covid-safe. Participants have enjoyed making their coasters and adding tiles to the mosaic for Burmarsh.
DESIGNS DRAWN UP FOR MARSH MOSAICS
The Marsh Mosaics: After a collaborative process working with the churches, all 10 designs have now been drawn up, ready for transfer to the panel boards. We’ve received a very enthusiastic response from the community and we’re keen to get going on the workshops!

DESIGN PROCESS COMMENCES FOR MARSH MOSAICS
The Marsh Mosaics: Design process commences, between Fifth Continent Cultural Heritage Officer, artistic team from Team Me and the 10 churches involved. The ideas from the community are being used as a basis for the designs.
