First Recorders Day

Many thanks to those of you who have registered your interest in recording wildlife on Romney Marsh. If you haven’t yet don’t worry! Whether you’ve never done it before or you’re an expert in your field we’ll all pitch in to fill in those all-important blanks in our picture of wildlife across this amazing landscape.

I’m pleased to announce details of the first Recording day!

It will take place on Monday 13th May starting at 10am. We’ll meet in the Churchyard of St George in Ivychurch.

There is free parking in front of the church or in the car park of the village hall (opposite, across the village green) Here’s a link for directions https://goo.gl/maps/QFWEuTvYPEZULjqf6 The postcode is TN29 0AR.

As well as lots to find in the churchyard itself we will head along footpaths into some very under-recorded areas of the Marsh, that means that anything we see will be new information! It’ll be a good chance to see grassland plants, have a look in some ditches and hopefully spot some birds and insects along the way.

Please wear sensible walking shoes and bring a packed lunch. We’ll aim to be back at the churchyard by 3pm.

Please let me know if you are able to attend so that I can get an idea of numbers and can bring the right amount of equipment.

Any questions just contact Stan.

I hope to see lots of you there

All the best

Stan Smith | Fifth Continent Biodiversity Officer
